Battlefield 1 – Beta Review
- Launch Readiness
I was fortunate enough to get a chance to spend alot of time with the Battlefield 1 Beta… and I’m glad I did! As many of you know, I’ve been playing Battlefield for a long time, in fact I started in 1942 and never looked back. While I did get caught up in the CoD hype when Call of Duty 4 was a thing, I quickly realized that Battlefield is much more my type of game, and I went back to that.
That’s not to say that all Battlefield games are good… there were definitely a couple of questionable releases out there (primarily console). Battlefield 1 however, is not that. Regardless of what the haters say behind the supposed anonymity of the internet, Battlefield 1 is a breath of fresh air. The first time I hopped onto the Battlefield I had that chill come over me that I get when I know I’m about to enjoy something. Did I enjoy it? You bet! It was a fantastic time.
There were some issues of course… I had bugs where I would spawn without any weapons, and I saw teammates running around holding air rifles (not pellets guns… think air guitars). The bullet drop on sniping seemed off, but I quickly adjusted to the difference from Battlefield 4. The light tank was a bit overpowered… it was easy to hop into the light tank and rack up 20 or 30 kills before being taken out. Some of the flags were way out in the middle of nowhere, and spawning on them usually meant a horrendously long run back to civilization.
Overall tho, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience… and this was just beta 1 (we all know that Beta 2 is the official release). I pre-ordered it after the beta ended, and can’t wait to play it when it comes out. It will be nice to experience different maps too!
Hopefully I’ll see you all on the Battlefield!
